Challenge Me
This section is designed for students who have worked through all 14 exercises in the book “Seven Days to Inner Peace: The Building Blocks of Awareness” and want to do more. Each month I will provide a new Challenge Exercise for you on this site and in the “E-Newsletter”. If you have not completed the exercises in the first book a minimum of four times each, I suggest that you go back and do that before proceeding with these exercises each month.

Beliefs & Vocabulary
Since the power of belief is aided in a large part by your vocabulary, this month I want you to pay close attention to what you say. I also want you to be aware what others say. For only one single day, I want you to track two things: 1) Your negative statements and 2) Other people's negative statements. Get a pen and a small piece of paper to carry with you and draw a line down the middle. On one side write, "Mine." On the other side write, "Others." Each time you become aware of negative word choice, put the mark on the appropriate side of the paper.

Your job for this exercise is just to observe. Do not judge, just observe and write down a mark each time you hear something negative, whether it is from you or another person. I bet at times you will find this hard because of all the negative things that are said. At the end of the day, add the marks from each side. Now multiply each column by 365. Stare at the two numbers and think about it for a minute. This is what your typical year would look like if you do nothing about your vocabulary. Now add the two numbers up. Pretty scary, huh?

For seven consecutive days, repeat the exercise above but alternate your daily focus. One day you will track other people's choice of vocabulary while the next day you will track your own. Watch your number decline each time you pay attention to your negative choice of words. Change your beliefs now. You owe it to yourself.

Try to journal at least 7 days during the month about your experiences. When you are done, send me an email about your experience.

Congratulations! You just added another building block to your positive stack!
